UNDERWORLD COLLECTION | 2017

Underworld is a dark, sultry collection that blends slinky notes of Teale, Navy and Ultramarine with the rugged inferno tiers of earth’s bluffs. Diving into the darkness of the mythology that surrounds Red Bluff Cliffs, Black Rock and the iconic Cerberus shipwreck. Hannah’s Underworld collection looks closely at the Australian landscape at her doorstep. The first collection of Underworld artworks have now sold out. Visit the Underworld Shop to receive a notification when our second instalment of works are released.

large-scale october collection | 2017

A series of ten large scale paintings by emerging Melbourne artist Hannah Nowlan. Following the success of her solo exhibition ‘Myths, Moons and Mountains’, Hannah offers a series of works that push the limits of her practice yet again.

Inspired by the boundless Australian landscape, where texture and surface are intertwined, Hannah creates a depiction of rich dusty rocks and jaded emerald seas, with sophisticated sensibility boasting her intimate knowledge of the coastline.

Employing her signature bold brush strokes and a rich, daring colour palette to convey landscape both real and imagined. Tales of archways and avenues, suns and moons unite this collection’s narrative in a mythical exploration of the Australian coastline.

Geometric | 2016

Hannah's Geometric abstraction series, draws on the connection between the moon and tides as well as structure and transparency. Australia's coastal seascapes influence the colour palette of the works whilst the forms remain more structured like that of geometry or astronomy.

myths, moons and mountains | 2017

Hannah’s latest body of work ‘Myths, Moons and Mountains’ explores the coastline as well as new motifs inspired by mythological narratives and ancient legends of Portugal. A primitive language is formed through her paintings that speak directly of person and place. This series boasts the young artist’s intimate knowlege of the coastline depicted through sophisticated sensibility of bold shapes, overlapping planes of glaze and a muted earthy palette.
